A true hidden gem in Pittsburgh. I’ve had my fair share of Latino food but this place really takes the cake. I highly recommend the pulled pork (SO TENDER) and definitely coat it with the green sauce they provide. Their yuca fries are awesome, as are their quesadillas and …well pretty much everything. If you eat the yuca fries, ask for mayo and mix it with the green sauce~best dipping sauce evaaa.
Eatery serves authentic Peruvian chicken

When a dream comes true, it’s more often because of hard work than a poof of magic.
“I always wanted to have my own restaurant,” Shelbin Santos says. Now she does. She’s been proprietor of Chicken Latino in the Strip District since June 2007, when she opened the restaurant with her then-husband.

My friend from Puerto Rico insisted on taking me here. I figured he was a good authority on things. This is a peruvian restaurant and I highly recommend you read the tribune article about it and what the owner has to say. This place is friggin incredible. First of all, it’s clean, warmly decorated and welcoming. The quesadilla is incredible.

Where did I dine at my first week back after returning from Peru? Why a Peruvian restaurant of course. Although each and every one of my trips abroad has always included some fantastic meals, it had been a while since I had visited a country where I truly just ADORED the cuisine.

If you presented me with the tall task of naming the Top 10 eateries in Pittsburgh, you might have to check back in a year or so for your answer. However, there are a few that are shoe-ins: the legendary Primanti Bros. Sandwich Shop, Dish Osteria & Bar… and the unheralded Chicken Latino.
